"A Little Girl Called Squeaks," is a must-read for anyone who has struggled with addiction, abuse, or feelings of worthlessness, or for anyone who wants insight into the feelings and challenges of those who struggle so. It takes place in the downtown eastside of Vancouver, BC. And it is a reminder to all of us that life stories like this should never be for children.
This book is one of the most thought provoking, moving books I have ever read. It makes me realize how judgemental society, me included, is towards the very innocent. The fact that Sqeaks lived to share her story gives hope in the most hopeless of lives.
That is so true. We often can be sympathetic with a child but we forget most children grow up and society doesn't recognize their lives have not changed. They often live lives that are horrible because that is all they know. Thank you for your comment.
